 About Library:


            Shri Sampatrao Mane Mahavidyalay Library is one of the leading college libraries in Khanapur City . The library has established in the year 1983 with the college established. The old building of the library was very small area but the library is shifted new building established in the year 2015. The library has all types of collections like text books, reference books, journals, periodicals and magazines etc. library provides sufficient services to faculties, students and staff.

            “To give maximum information, maximum number of times by maximum possible ways in Minimum Time.”

  Purpose: 


            The purpose of a library is to freely disseminate knowledge. Our library is therefore operated on a need-based approach rather than the usual rules-based treatment given to students everywhere. We allow partially  open access to the collection and encourage students to browse  through the stacks.

             I. To start all  Library functions Automation as early as possible.
             II. To provide OPAC facility to all the faculty members and students.
             III. To make Institutional Repository of our library.
             IV. To establish network with other colleges and University Library.
             V. Addition of more competitive career oriented books and magazines

LAC (Library Advisory Committee 2023-26):


The college library is governed by LAC. Every year the college constitutes the Library Committee for its smooth functioning. The main objective of the Library Committee is to decide and adopt policies for the library services and programmes of the library. The principal of the college is the president of the committee. Dr. A.G.Yerage  is the chairman of the committee where as the librarian is the secretary. The committee consist of seven members include principal, HOD’s and faculty representative of the various department of the college. The committee members discuss issues like library administrations, library development, library services and policy decisions and also they give suggestions for the improvement of the library services, collections and development of the library.

Q.1 How many books can I borrow at a time?
 Answer: Students can borrow two books at a time. (1 textbook & 1 reference book)

Q.2 How long am I entitled to issue the book and can I renew it?
 Answer: Students can borrow books for a period of 7 days. Borrowed reference books can be renewed twice. Text books can’t not be renewed. Your renewal request will not be accepted if the book is heavily overdue or in demand by others.

Q.3 Can I borrow current or back issues (bound volumes) of journals?
 Answer: Current as well as back issues of any journal are for reference purpose only. They will not be issued for home lending.

Q.4 How do I find a particular book in the Library?
 Answer:  To find a particular book you can use the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue of Library books and journals). Else you can contact the Books Circulation Desk in the Library.

Q.5 What are the working hours for the Library?
 Answer: The College Library remains open between 08.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on all working days except Sundays and Govt. holidays.

Q.6 Can I use my friend’s card and borrow book on his behalf?
 Answer: Nobody is allowed to borrow books from the Library on someone else’s card. Doing so is liable for fine.

Q.07 I like to use pencil for notation, is this considered as damage?
 Answer: Any form of marking or writing in a book, whether it is with pencil or pen, is not permitted. Folding of corners of book is also prohibited. Anyone vandalizing a book in this way is liable to be charged a fine to cover the cost of book and also can be banned from using Library.

Q.8 How will I know about arrival of new books and journals in the Library?
 Answer: The newly added books are displayed in Display Section monthly and Journals are displayed weekly. Also List of books is displayed once in the month.

Q.9 Are the books arranged subject-wise in the Library?
 Answer: Books are arranged on the shelf as per subject classified order (According to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme).

Q.10 What do I do if I lose a book?
 Answer: You should inform circulation staff immediately and replace the latest edition of the same book. If the book is out of print or not available in the market, then you have to follow the instruction of the Librarian.

Q.11 What do I do if the book I borrowed is damaged?
Answer: For the minor damage you will have to pay binding charges else you have to replace it with the new one.

Q.12 In case I have lost my I-card?
 Answer: Loss of the Library card should be immediately reported to the Librarian. The duplicate card shall be issued on the payment of Rs. 100/-.

Q.13 Are outsiders allowed to avail the Library membership facility along with book borrowing facility?
 Answer: 
Outsiders cannot avail Library casual membership facility. Ex-students and Ex-faculty members can visit library and refer the books in the library itself by obtaining special permission from the principal. But borrowing facility is not available for outsiders.
